Additional Benefits

Future Students

Since its beginnings in 1941, National American University has been a cornerstone of higher education, keeping pace with the ever-changing advancements of technology, while holding onto core values that provide a caring and supportive environment for all students.

National American University is also about personal development. While you’re here you’ll have time to take a look at who you are, who you want to be and how you’re going to get there. True, you’ll be a different person when you leave National American University – and you’ll be pleased with the change. It’s not just a promise; it’s a commitment from a private career college that has been educating students for more than half a century.

NAU has 17 locations throughout South Dakota, Minnesota, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico and Texas, all of which are primarily the working adult model campus.

In addition to its physical facilities, National American University serves students through its anytime, anywhere online campus which offers associate, bachelor's and master’s degrees completely online.

National American University (NAU) offers a quality, personalized private education at an affordable cost. NAU has consistently remained one of the least expensive among private universities. Affordability options are available for every family.

NAU recognizes that many students would be unable to pursue their educational goals without financial assistance. NAU provides financial aid in the form of grants, scholarships, work study, and low-interest loan programs through federal, state and local sources.

We will be communicating frequently regarding your financial aid in the form of e-mail or through the student portal. Please be sure to check your e-mail and the portal frequently.

Because of the limited amount of funds in certain programs, it is imperative that you complete and return/submit your financial aid applications as soon as possible.

If you have any outside resources helping you pay your educational expenses or the amount of the outside resources have changed since last year please notify your Campus Financial Service Representative by e-mail (see listing at bottom of page). Outsides Resources include Scholarships, non-federal grants (BIA, Tribal Assistance, etc.) Military Tuition Assistance (active duty, reserve, guards), Company Tuition Assistance, Vocational Rehabilitation benefits, private alternative loans, Work Force Investment Act (WIA), Training Assistance Act (TAA), gifts, etc.

Financial Assistance for Military

National American University is proud to have served students affiliated with the U.S. military since 1941. If you've served your country and earned funds to support your continuing education, NAU understands how you might access military benefits, and can help you make it happen. NAU is approved for veteran's training and is a member of the Service Members of Opportunities Colleges (SOCAD).

Transfer your years of military experience into college credit. National American University offers services to meet your unique needs by offering flexible class schedules, credit for life, work and military experience, and free military evaluations. You may be surprised at just how fast you can complete your studies. NAU arranges the quickest path to degree and full credit for your military education by taking advantage of American Council on Education (ACE) credit assessment services. ACE continuously evaluates military schools, correspondence courses and occupations to determine the amount and level of academic credit each should be awarded. Through ACE credits, you may earn academic credit for most of the training you have received, including basic training, and you can reduce the time required and cost for your studies.

Military Tuition Assistance

You can make your studies even more affordable by making sure that you take advantage of your Tuition Assistance (TA) funding. Armed Forces TA funds are available to eligible members of the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard. Tuition assistance programs provide assistance of 75% to 100% of allowable tuition costs, depending on the branch of service. DANTES will pay course costs once a passing grade is received. You will need to submit the original DANTES 1562/31 three-copy form.

Military tuition assistance verification forms are obtained from your military education office. You will need to provide the course codes, class name, tuition costs per class to complete the form. Once a pre-approved tuition assistance verification form is obtained, provide a copy of that form to your financial service representative.

If you are using military tuition assistance resources you must provide completed verification forms and complete the National American University promissory note by the first day of class. Your financial service representative can help you complete this process.

GI Bill

You may also be qualified for GI Bill funding to cover tuition costs not already covered by TA. In all cases, eligibility for military benefits is dependent on your completion of application requirements as administered by your branch of the armed forces. You may be surprised at just how far along in our programs you might start, and just how affordable NAU can be as you continue your studies.

Veterans Education Benefits

Veterans and/or dependents of veterans who are disabled or deceased may qualify for educational financial assistance through the Veterans Administration. Since the regulations regarding eligibility are quite extensive and many times need interpretation, contact your local veterans service office.
