Liberty University

Message From the Chancellor

Liberty University is the largest and fastest growing Christian Evangelical university in the world. Founded in 1971 by my father, the late Dr. Jerry Falwell Sr., Liberty started with his vision to train young Champions for Christ. We’re now the largest private university in Virginia, offering more than 60 accredited programs of study. Our campus boasts top-notch facilities and state-of-the-art technology, but our original mission and purpose remains strong as we continue to grow. Liberty hosts some of the world’s best-known Christian evangelists, speakers and performers every semester, and our vibrant spiritual life based on a solid doctrinal statement truly sets us apart from other schools. While academics and faith are our top priorities, Liberty is also pleased to offer NCAA Division I athletics and many recreational opportunities. Everything we do is designed to develop Christ-centered men and women with the values, knowledge and skills essential to impact tomorrow’s world.

A Closer Look

Liberty University’s greatest asset is its students — and their school spirit, enthusiasm, strong character and motivation. Behind these successful students are parents who are valued for their supportive role. Whether you’re a prospective student or parent, you might be curious about LU — and you’re looking in the right spot.

Additional Benefits

This is a church for the rest of us.…and everyone is welcome. There’s no dress code or dry sermons. Skeptics and critics are our guests of honor. Each week thousands of students from dozens of campuses gather under one roof. No facades, just honest faith…real people. Campus Church is tuning a diverse community to the heart of God.

Join us this week as students who are preparing to be educators and visionaries, preachers and pilots, lawyers and missionaries, nurses, moms and businesspersons discover the answers to their deepest questions – discovering who is God, really.

Liberty — A military friendly university

Liberty University is a military-friendly university, servicing all branches of the military with over 11,000 of our students serving all around the globe.

Recognizing and appreciating the deep sacrifice that is continually made on our country's behalf, Liberty is devoted to helping our servicemen and women from around the world reach their highest potential and achieve their dreams by providing a high-quality, flexible, and affordable Christian education.

To express appreciation for their service, service members, veterans, military spouses, and Dept. of Defense employees, are offered several military benefits, including tuition discounts (keeping tuition within Military Tuition Assistance cap), fee waivers, and free book vouchers. Because of these LU benefits, those who qualify for Tuition Assistance may complete courses with no out-of-pocket expense (when enrolling in at least 6 hours per term, one course per 8-week subterm). Liberty also offers a free evaluation of military training for college credit and is a member of the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) Network.

Liberty University's Military Support Office is available to assist with all military and veterans benefits, such as Military Tuition Assistance, GI Bill (Active Duty and Selected Reserves), Reservists Education Assistance Program (REAP), VA Vocational Rehabilitation, and Dependent's Educational Assistance Program.
